Alliance Machine Systems International has a rich history of growth, innovation, and excellence.
PRE-ALLIANCE
The roots of Alliance Machine Systems International trace back to 1983 with the founding of Thermoguard Equipment Inc. in Spokane, Washington by Roger & Mona Crawford.
Initially specializing in insulation, Roger recognized a need for replacement parts for insulating shredding machines. Dave Shill, an Engineer working for ASC Machine at the time, introduced Roger to the Corrugated industry and the idea of a hydraulicly operated Extendo. The industry standard at the time was to anchor a converting machine on rails and move the machine back and forth, and Dave's idea was to attach and power an extending conveyor, now known as an Extendo to a machine that feeds corrugated board into the press. With that, TEI was born, and in 1984 TEI shipped its very first FeedMaster Prefeeder.
This industry breakthrough lead to strong growth, and in 1999, H Enterprises acquired TEI and consolidated it with J&L, the manufacturer of the legendary J&L Specialty Folder Gluer, to create Alliance Machine Systems International LLC.
EXPANSIONS AND AQUISITIONS
Shortly after formation, Alliance grew through strategic acquisitions. In 2000, the company acquired Serco Holland BV and Quadro Engineering in the Netherlands, establishing a European presence. In 2001, the corrugated division of ASC was added, broadening both product lines and geographic reach. By 2012, Alliance had installed its 10,000th machine, and had established itself as a global leader in corrugated machinery and automation solutions.
In 2015, Alliance was acquired by Barry-Wehmiller, a global supplier of industrial equipment and services with operations across packaging, paper converting, and engineering consulting. Founded in 1885 and headquartered in St. Louis, Barry-Wehmiller has built a family of companies serving diverse manufacturing industries. Becoming part of Barry-Wehmiller gave Alliance the stability of a larger organization, access to broader resources, and connection to a network of related equipment companies, while allowing Alliance to maintain it's strong brand and continued customer relationships.
Over time, Alliance expanded it's product lines to include other industry-leading products such as palletizers, bundle breakers, RDC Stackers, Conveyors, and more. Some industry-leading products throughout the history of Alliance include the FeedMaster and FeedMAX Preefeeders, the ALF and Raptor palletizers, The J&L Mark 5 Specialty Folder Gluer, The AccuSTAK RDC Stacker, and the new UltraFEED electric prefeeders.
Leadership transitioned in 2022 when Marius Batrin succeeded Mark Duchesne as president, and Alliance entered it's modern era. Batrin led the company to record years, and continued with Alliance's long history of acquisitions in 2025 with the purchase of JD Engineers in the Netherlands, Systec Conveyors in Indianapolis, and Automatan in Plover, Wisconsin. These additions strengthened Alliance’s capabilities in folder-gluers, conveying systems, laminating, and labeling.
