The J&L Mark 5 XT Specialty Folder Gluer allows penetration into new value-added markets for improved profitability.  The versatility of the Mark 5 allows the operator to process a range of board weights from heavy-weight, double-wall corrugated to 18-point paperboard, including litho-laminated E and F flute.  The Mark 5 XT is designed to handle auto-lock bottoms, die cuts, inner partitions, four- and six-corner trays, hexagonal, octagonal, gusseted, and long box styles, with sizes ranging from 115’ to 210’.

1000 MODULE (Feeder Module)

Untimed, stream feed belts, each with selectable vacuum assist.

2000 MODULE (First Back Fold Module)

Lead edge backward folding on automatic lock bottoms and trays, trailing edge forward folding on trays, or pre-breaking of panel scores and glue tabs. Standard equipment includes servo motor driven Backfold system.

3000 MODULE (Second Back Fold Module)

This module is similar to the 2000 module, but used for alternate panels.

4000 MODULE (Final Fold Module)

Side panel inward folding and glue application.  Unless otherwise specified, a Valco VCX/OT-120 cold glue system is supplied.  The system includes (2) Contact and (2) Non-Contact glue applicators, 9:1 glue pump and balancing regulator.  Also includes (2) glue protection rods, 4000 center carrier belt option, electronic variable speed fold belts, and variable length and pressure alligator nose assembly.

5000 MODULE (Delivery Module) 

Telescoping belts to place the folded blanks into the compression module. Includes electronic jam detection, rate count, total count, and batch count for “black light” count indicator. Includes servo driven lead edge high speed squaring system.

6000 MODULE (Compression Module)

Upward yielding belt and rollers.  Electrically raised and lowered entry.  Full width spanker with extended tamping capability.  Motorized, vertically adjustable mounting plate for the spanking anvils.  Electrically adjustable upper front nip roller.  Motor driven top section positioning with electrically interlocked clamps.  Belt start/stop photo eye controls for both top and bottom stacking. Includes removable panel straightening/squaring system for squaring boxes with a high panel length to fold score ratio.  Manual side travel hardware included to move compression off centerline.

High Speed Squaring System - The High-Speed Squaring System has two components, the 5000 Module Squaring Device and the 6000 Module Squaring Device.  The 5000 Module Squaring Device is used for lock bottom boxes designed with an even lead-edge that is square and allows manipulation of the glue joint. This option is suitable for boxes with a high panel-length to fold-score ratio of 8:1 or higher but is not limited to the higher ratio.

The 6000 Squaring Device includes two squaring backstops mounted in the 6000 Module

used as an alternative to the standard Spanker system.  These backstops are made to square micro-flute boxes and high-ratio auto-lock bottom boxes with extended 2nd and 3rd trailing panels that do not allow for spanking with the Full Width Spanker.
