Problem:
Customers have
reported experiencing loosening and breakage of some of the bolts
attaching the inverter motor torque arm to its gearbox.
For in-service
HSTFs Alliance is issuing this Service Bulletin to advise customers
on the right torque too be applied to these bolts attaching the
torque arm to the gearbox in the event that these bolts have become
loose.

REQUIRED BOLTS:
GRADE 8
M12x 35mm LG
TORQUE BOLTS TO 79 Nm (58 ft.-lbs.) |
If these bolts
have loosened up, we recommend that you retighten them at the torque
value recommended below.

 Recommended
action:
Alliance
strongly recommends that you perform a preventative check up of the
tightening of these bolts. This should be done on a regular basis,
at every scheduled maintenance.
If the bolts
have not loosened up and you don’t see any relative movement between
the torque arm and the gearbox, the torque applied should be fine
and there is no need for re-tightening.
If the bolts
have loosened up and you can observe a relative movement between the
torque arm and the gearbox, remove one bolt at the time and
retighten the bolts, using BLUE LOCTITE, at the following torque:
