Bulletin: SVB-120
Date Issued: July 14, 2006
Category: Design Improvement
Subject: Operating System Modification
Machine Models: Bundle Breakers¨ delivered since Sept. 2002
Back to Index
Problem:
A customer
reported that their Bundle Breaker ¨
overheated and damaged the hydraulic pump while the machine was left
unattended and in automatic operation. This unit had been in service
since 2002.
The Bundle
Breaker ¨
control system is intended to shut down the machine as a protective
measure if 999 continuous seconds of inactivity have been
experienced while operating in the automatic mode. However, on-site
investigation by Alliance revealed that the automatic shutdown
feature in the delivered control program logic did not function as
intended and led to overheating of the hydraulic system.
In response to
this problem an Alliance technician modified the control program and
confirmed proper operation of the automatic shutdown feature. This
control system logic change has also been accomplished for all new
and future production Bundle Breaker ¨
units.
