This guide is provided as a tool for personnel involved with the
operation of the folder/gluer. We hope you will find it useful and
will call us if you need additional assistance.
The theoretical capacity of the folder/gluer process is determined
by the utilization of time, speed and material. Losses of time (downtime,
set-up, unscheduled), speed (poor diecuts, manpower), or material
(waste) will result in a capacity much less than theoretical, as
illustrated to the right.
As improvements are made in actual capacity to move toward the
theoretical, the payoff in productivity is very significant, since
the cost to operate the process at the theoretical capacity is no
higher than to operate the process at the reduced capacity, with
the exception of material.
Set-up can significantly influence production efficiency on a
J & L Specialty folder/gluer, in terms of the non-productive time
to perform the set-ups, and the quality of the set-up, which allows
higher processing speeds. Documented set-up times were demonstrated
with a production machine operated by two J & L trainers. These
times should be used as benchmarks for efficiency improvement. |
